How to Enable XenStore Tracing for Xen / OracleVM?

Posted on March 10, 2009 By XceptN No Comments on How to Enable XenStore Tracing for Xen / OracleVM?

In /var/log/messages you see that there may be some problems with the XenStore Daemon (xenstored) of the Oracle VM  or Xen Server.

In some cases it will be useful to have a debug trace of XenStore daemon for its operation.

Solution

On the OracleVM Server:

  1. Edit /root/.bashrc
  2. Add line
         export XENSTORED_TRACE=1

  3. Reboot the OracleVM server
  4. The traces will be written into:
  • /var/log/xen/xenstored-trace.log
OracleVM, virtualization, xen
